Mr. Marić and Schulz: Germany Interested in Stronger Economic Cooperation with Croatia

There is a possibility of intensifying economic cooperation between Croatia and Germany, especially in the area of investments in tourism and in Slavonia, concluded Minister Goran Marić and German Ambassador to Croatia Thomas E. Schulz on Thursday at a meeting at the Ministry of State Property.

Minister Marić and Ambassador Schulz discussed the development of economic cooperation between the two countries, investment projects, and the new law on the management of state property and the register of state property.

The German ambassador identified Croatia as an important partner for Germany, whose entrepreneurs, as conveyed in his words from the Ministry, are “eager for discussions and contacts regarding investment opportunities in the development of investment projects, especially in the area of Slavonia.”

Minister Marić informed the ambassador that the Ministry plans to activate state property that has been neglected for decades, and that this will be facilitated by the new law on the management of state property, which he announced will come into effect by the end of this year.

“The new law will enable faster activation of state property and simplify the procedures for leasing, concessions, or sales. Investments are the foundation of societal development, and I believe that many projects will be realized,” said the minister.

The Ministry of State Property also conveyed that the German ambassador was interested in whether there is a register of state property, given that German companies want to invest in Croatia, to which the minister responded that his ministry is preparing a draft proposal for the law on the Central Register of State Property, which will be managed by the Central State Office for the Development of the Digital Society.

“The register will be comprehensive and contain data on all forms of property owned by the Republic of Croatia, not only on property managed by the Ministry but also on property managed by other bodies,” explained Marić.
