We announce the most important events in Croatia for Wednesday, September 20:

ZAGREB – The Croatian Parliament will continue its session on Wednesday with a discussion on the proposal for a new audit law that foresees the reorganization of the existing public oversight system of audits, (9:30 AM, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6). The new audit law stipulates that the competent authority for the oversight of audit firms and certified auditors will become the Ministry of Finance, the Public Oversight Committee for Audits will cease to operate, while the Croatian Chamber of Auditors will no longer have a supervisory role. Among the public powers that will be entrusted to it, the Chamber will, with prior consent from the Ministry, determine the audit exam program and organize and conduct it. Compared to the previous system, the number of years of work experience required before meeting the conditions to take the audit exam has increased from three to five.

SPLIT – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction and Spatial Planning Predrag Štromar will sign five contracts for the energy renovation of primary school buildings in the county at the premises of the Split-Dalmatia County (3 PM, Domovinskog rata 2). These include the building of OŠ Josip Pupačić in Omiš, OŠ Vladimira Nazora in Postira, OŠ Marka Marulića in Sinj, OŠ Tin Ujević in Vrgorac, and OŠ Ante Starčević in Dicmo.

ZAGREB – A round table of the Coalition of Health Associations “Vaccination – Facts Against Myths” will be held at the Croatian Journalists’ Society (HND), where representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO), the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ), the Office of the Ombudsman for Children, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Croatian Epidemiological Society, the Croatian Society for Infectious Diseases, the Croatian Society for Pediatric Pulmonology, the Croatian Society for Public Health, and the Croatian Society of Family Doctors will participate. (10 AM, HND, Perkovčeva 2).

ZAGEREB – A round table “Challenges of Social Services: Presentation of Indicators for Early Identification of Child Poverty” will take place at the Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy. This is a collaboration between Croatia and France within the framework of the EU twinning project for the institutional strengthening of the social welfare system to improve the targeting of social programs and reduce poverty. The project leader, State Secretary for Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy Marija Pletikosa, will address the participants at the beginning (10:30 AM, Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy, Trg Nevenke Topalušić 1, Great Hall, 11th floor).

ZAGREB – The start of the action by the Croatian Association of Deafblind Persons “I also want to hear the game” aims to provide equal educational opportunities for deafblind, deaf, and hard-of-hearing children from an early age. To eliminate their discrimination, public awareness of this issue is necessary, as well as the adoption of a systematic solution – changes to the law and accompanying subordinate legislation (8 AM, children’s park behind the Boćarsko home, Prisavlje 2). The president of the Croatian Association of Deafblind ‘Touch’, Sanja Tarczay, and professor at the Faculty of Education in Zagreb, Vladimira Velički, will speak. Parents with children from Zagreb and Varaždin who wish to start kindergarten with a sign language interpreter will also come to the children’s park.
