HEP ODS has commissioned the Hrvace transformer station

The distribution system operator has permanently commissioned the first phase of the newly built Hrvace transformer station (TS) on Monday, into which more than 20 million kuna has been invested so far, reported the Croatian Electric Company (HEP).

The Hrvace TS, transforming 35/20(10) kilovolts (kV), is among the key investments of HEP – the Distribution System Operator (HEP ODS) in the distribution area of Elektrodalmacija Split, where more than 100 million kuna per year is invested to ensure increased capacity and reliability of the medium-voltage network in the Split-Dalmatia County, HEP emphasizes.

Before the opening of the new transformer station, HEP points out, the municipality of Hrvace was one of the few in Dalmatia and Croatia that did not have any distribution electricity source in its area, and 11 settlements and more than four thousand residents were supplied through two transformer stations in the neighboring city of Sinj.

The Hrvace TS, which is in close proximity to the Peruća hydroelectric power plant, will significantly contribute to increasing the capacity of the network, reliability, and quality of electricity supply to the municipality of Hrvace, and will also enable dual supply to parts of the city of Sinj, the municipalities of Vrlika and Otok, as well as the connection of new electricity customers, HEP assesses.

The construction works for the Hrvace TS were carried out by the company ALTE gradnja d.o.o., while the electrical installation works were performed by the company Končar KET with subcontractor HELB. The transformer station was designed by Elektrodalmacija Split and the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split.

In the event of increased electricity consumption and the need for connections of new facilities to the electricity network, the second phase of the project will involve upgrading the transformer station and constructing high-voltage lines. Upon completion of the planned investments, the Hrvace TS will be a driver of development for the municipality of Hrvace, HEP emphasizes.

– In 2017, HEP – ODS will invest nearly a billion kuna across Croatia, of which almost 200 million will be in Dalmatia alone. These investments are necessary for the secure supply of the growing number of customers on the Adriatic, enabling further growth of Croatian tourism, but also for improving the quality of life for residents of the Dalmatian hinterland and creating conditions for economic development. In the area of the Sinj Facility alone, HEP – ODS has invested more than 40 million kuna in the past four years in the construction of capital facilities with associated medium-voltage and low-voltage lines, such as the Hrvace transformer station we are opening today, said Saša Dujmić, a member of HEP’s Management Board, on this occasion.
