Cerar: The arbitration ruling must be implemented by December 29

If Croatia continues to ignore the ruling of the arbitration court regarding the border, Slovenia expects that the European Union will exert pressure on it, and the ruling must be implemented no later than December 29, said Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar on Saturday.

“Slovenia will be ready for implementation on December 29. If Croatia continues to persist in ignoring the ruling, then we will also use all legal and political means to convince Croatia that it must respect the decision of the international arbitration,” Cerar said in an interview with the Slovenian commercial television station POP TV.

He added that in that case, he expects more resolute support from the international community for Slovenia.

“I believe that the international community should also contribute to convincing Croatia that it must respect the arbitration,” Cerar said.

Cerar emphasized that the dialogue between the two sides must focus on the implementation of the arbitration ruling and that he and his government will not “yield” to Croatia, which does not recognize the arbitration ruling because Slovenia has contaminated it, but will act decisively.
