Vinkovci the first city in Croatia to offer investors a communal contribution of one kuna

The City Council of Vinkovci made a decision at its meeting on Tuesday that all investors – liable for the communal contribution who will build economic-business facilities and agricultural facilities in the area of that city will pay a communal contribution of only one kuna per square meter, and the Master Plan for traffic in the city of Vinkovci was also accepted.

“Our desire is to encourage greater investments in Vinkovci and facilitate business for entrepreneurs. As far as I know, we are the first city in Croatia to introduce a communal contribution at the level of one kuna,” said Vinkovci Mayor Ivan Bosančić, reminding that the city had previously been divided into four zones where the communal contribution ranged from one to 50 kuna per square meter.

According to him, until now an investor in the first zone, where the communal contribution was 50 kuna for a building with a volume of 1000 cubic meters, paid 50,000 kuna, but under the new decision, they will only pay 1000 kuna.

Rebalancing the city budget

The rebalancing of the city budget was also accepted, the second this year, which has increased by 27 million kuna, making the city budget after the rebalancing 170.1 million kuna.

Mayor Ivan Bosančić explained the rebalancing with many investments that the city authorities intend to realize in Vinkovci this and next year, from the construction of a business incubator, for which the city has received a non-refundable grant of 21 million kuna, to the energy renovation of kindergartens and the completion of works for the construction of the Association of Persons with Disabilities “Bubamara”.

“There are still projects that are important to us, and that is why we are going into the budget rebalancing. We want to start the construction of the city library as well. These are all good news, and I believe that everything we plan will come to fruition for the joy of the citizens of Vinkovci,” said Bosančić.

Master Plan for Traffic

City councilors also accepted the Master Plan for traffic in the city of Vinkovci, which should be the fundamental plan for traffic development in Vinkovci until 2040. According to the director of the Agency for Development and Investments of the city of Vinkovci VIA Mirta Štrk, who presented the plan to the councilors, Vinkovci has excellent conditions for traffic development, but they are not being utilized nearly enough.

“Citizens are using public transport less and less, and there are more and more cars on the city roads, which is not good,” emphasized Štrk, adding that citizens should be directed as much as possible towards public transport, using bicycles, and walking, and to achieve this, city transport must be modernized, bicycle paths must be built, and a public bicycle system must be introduced.
