The retail chain Pepco is opening its first stores in Slovenia this month, aiming to employ nearly 300 people in 40 stores across the country over the next three years, announced the European discount chain owned by Pepkor, a South African investment holding.
After opening its stores in Croatia in April this year, currently having 10, Pepco will open its first store in Ptuj on Friday. By the end of the month, stores will also open in Domžale, Celje, Novo Mesto, and Ljutomer, announced the company’s Chief Operating Officer for Central and Eastern Europe, Marcin Stanko.
– The Slovenian market is important for us. We are confident that opening the first stores is an excellent start to our presence in this market, added Stanko.
Pepco is a European retail chain for family clothing and home goods. It operates in over 1,000 stores in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Romania. They started operations in 2004 in Poland and now employ more than 9,000 people.
In Croatia, Pepco plans to open about 75 stores and employ more than 600 people over the next three years.
