Morgan Stanley: Tesla Semi ‘the biggest catalyst for transport in the last few decades’

Adam Jonas is one of the leading analysts at Morgan Stanley responsible for the company Tesla, and he is quite excited about the upcoming launch of the Tesla Semi model, which is an electric truck, writes Electrek.

In a letter to clients, he stated that the introduction of the truck is the biggest catalyst for transport in the last few decades, and it is what will differentiate technology leaders from followers from now on.

The exact date of the presentation is still unknown, but Elon Musk hinted that it will be most likely in September. Jonas also wrote that the Tesla Semi could be presented at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show-in Atlanta on September 25.

Jonas expects the truck to go on sale in 2020, it will cost $100,000, and it will be designed as a versatile semi-truck, consuming 70% less energy than standard trucks.

If Jonas’s predictions that the Tesla Semi could consume 70% less than conventional trucks are accurate, then it is definitely the biggest catalyst in the truck market. However, it is difficult to say whether the new model will truly be 70% more economical.
