The performances of Jeff Mills and Nina Kraviz at the Punta Christo fortress near Pula successfully concluded the Dimensions festival, one of the most prestigious electronic music festivals in the world, which began on Wednesday with an unforgettable concert by the great music and fashion icon Grace Jones at the Pula Arena.
Over five festival days, visitors listened to and watched 150 musicians on eleven stages at the Punta Christo fortress, the main stage The Clearing, the popular daytime stage The Beach, and numerous parties on boats sailing through the Brijuni archipelago.
In addition to the festival’s main stars, techno pioneer and founder of the cult Detroit label Underground Resistance Jeff Mills and one of the most popular female electronic musicians Nina Kraviz, who performed twice, the lineup featured Floating Points, Dâm-Funk, Helena Hauff, Male, Theo Parrish, Marcel Dettmann, Daphni, Levon Vincent, Antal, Goldie, Adrian Sherwood, Giles Peterson, and others.
Numerous local performers also took the stage: Petar Dundov, Ilija Rudman, Le Chocolat Noir, Mimi, Labud, Chui, Kozmodrum, and friends of the PDV record label, which had its own night in the Ballroom: Bebeto, Mislav, Pytzek, Andra Lekaj, Volster, and Borut Cvajner.
According to the festival organizers, there is a growing number of visitors from various European countries among Dimensions enthusiasts, but visitors from the United Kingdom still lead. However, there are also many guests from France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany, with a significant increase in guests from Central Eastern Europe, while the number of visitors from Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia continues to grow.
After a short break, the jubilee tenth edition of the Outlook festival, a music event dedicated to bass music and soundsystem culture, will open on Wednesday, with more than three hundred announced musicians contributing to the celebration of the ten-year anniversary.
Performances will begin on Wednesday at the Pula Arena when musicians from the top of bass music will take the stage at the largest stage to date: Dizzie Rascal, a pioneer of grime and Mercury Prize winner, American master of experimental electronics and hip-hop DJ Shadow, and a performance by as many as fifty-six members of the Outlook Orchestra, of which thirty-five are vocalists, including many giants of hip hop, grime, reggae, garage, drum and bass, and dubstep.
