Mlinar Expands to Serbia, Opens New Bakery in Belgrade

Domestic bakery product manufacturer, Mlinar, has opened a new bakery in the center of Belgrade. This is the first in a series of bakeries that Mlinar, in collaboration with the company Mlinar Srb d.o.o., plans to open in Serbia.

-The first Mlinar franchise store in Belgrade was opened in collaboration with the local company Mlinar SRB d.o.o., owned by Goran Dejanović. Previously, part of Mlinar’s assortment was offered in some retail chains in Serbia, and based on the exceptionally positive consumer reactions, the development of retail through franchising was agreed upon, Mlinar stated.

They add that the Belgrade store, opened at Makedonska 11, is one of 220 Mlinar bakeries worldwide. Regarding Serbia, Mlinar does not disclose exactly how many bakeries they intend to open, only that this one on Makedonska is “the first in the chain of stores that we will develop with our partner in all major cities in Serbia.”

-Our goal is to offer consumers a complete assortment that our customers already know well in a significant part of the world, Mlinar representatives say.

They also do not reveal how many people they will employ in Serbia or from which suppliers they will source products for the bakeries. Mlinar only adds that the expansion into Serbia is “a logical continuation of the development of the system of its own chain of bakery stores, franchise bakeries, and wholesale customers, i.e., retail chains in Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia, Switzerland, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Italy, England, Russia, the Netherlands, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, and now in Serbia.”
