The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, announced on Friday that dialogue with Croatia will “continue” regarding the construction of the Pelješac Bridge, but he simultaneously emphasized that it must be based on mutual understanding and international law.
In a special statement delivered to the media from the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zvizdić linked the construction of the Pelješac Bridge with the final arrangement of the interstate border, specifically ensuring Bosnia and Herzegovina’s access to the open sea.
– The conversation with the Republic of Croatia continues, and it will be necessary to finalize the delimitation process between BiH and Croatia without any further delay, especially regarding the delimitation at sea, which involves establishing an international shipping route and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s exit to the open sea where a regime of free navigation and communication will apply. Resolving these issues through appropriate international agreements would confirm the mutual intention to strengthen good-neighborly relations, as well as complete readiness to mutually respect sovereignty and territorial integrity, the concrete realization of the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, as well as other norms of relevant international acts, stated the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić.
