Today in Croatia

We announce the most important events in Croatia for Thursday, August 31:

ZAGREB – The session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia will decide, among other things, on the increase of the fee for renewable energy sources (RES) from the current 3.5 lipa per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to 10.5 lipa per kWh starting from September, which will increase the average electricity bill by about 20 kuna per month. The agenda also includes a proposal for the establishment of the Commission for the Immunological Institute, as well as the initiation of the procedure for concluding the Basic Collective Agreement for officials and employees in public services and the amount of the base for salary calculation in public services (10 AM, Banski dvori, Trg sv. Marka 2).

ZAGREB – The session of the Parliamentary Committee for Elections, Appointments, and Administrative Affairs will decide which representatives will be financially penalized for unjustified absences from the parliamentary chamber in the first half of July. Amendments to the Law on the Rights and Duties of Representatives have enabled, for the first time, financial penalties for parliamentary representatives who unjustifiably miss plenary sessions, whereby their monthly flat fee of 1500 kuna is reduced by 150 kuna for each such absence. A representative’s absence is justified if they were ill, which must be proven by a medical certificate, if there was a death in the family, if they had to respond to a court, or if they had to attend social, political, cultural, and other gatherings to which they were invited (2 PM, Croatian Parliament, Trg sv. Marka 6).

ZAGREB – At the session of the Zagreb City Assembly after the summer break, there will be 23 items on the agenda, and besides the one regarding the renaming of Marshal Tito Square, city representatives will also decide on the establishment of a new city office – the Office for Intercity and International Cooperation, and the separation of the City Office for Education, Culture, and Sports into three separate offices (9 AM, Old City Hall, Ulica sv. Ćirila i Metoda 5/I).

ZAGREB – The Independent Union of Workers in the Energy, Chemistry, and Non-Metal Industries of Croatia (EKN), affiliated with the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH), will hold a press conference on the topic “Who will lead the Immunological Institute from September 1 and where will it go?” Speakers will include Željko Klaus, president of EKN, and Lidija Jagarinec, commissioner of the EKN Union at the Immunological Institute (10 AM, Krešimirov trg 2, Workers’ Home, hall 427, 4th floor).

ZAGREB – A press conference of the Croatian Association of Primary Health Care Concessionaires regarding the announced changes in the concession system in primary health care, which abolishes concessions and introduces practices modeled after other Western European countries, and increases the number of specializations for family doctors (10:30 AM, Slovenska 24).
