Investors from Italy and Sweden are offering significant investments in Vukovar. Each would create 500 jobs in flooring and click-furniture factories. However, they are seeking long-term contracts from Croatian Forests – each for a quarter of the total supply of the highest quality Slavonian oak.

Florian is seeking 80,000 cubic meters of oak

The Italian wood industry Florian group recently visited Vukovar and announced a project to invest in the construction of a factory for final wood products, in which they are ready to invest 25 million euros and employ around 500 workers. It was emphasized that after five factories in Croatia, the Italians have a strong desire to open a sixth in Vukovar. They stated that they are interested in Vukovar due to the proximity of the Spačva basin, i.e., the availability of very high-quality Slavonian oak, as well as the excellent geostrategic position of Vukovar and legal privileges. – We are ready, we are just waiting for you to make a decision – said owner Elvio Florian to the government of Andrej Plenković, next to whom at the project presentation was another HDZ member, the mayor of Vukovar Ivan Penava, which created the impression that the investment is a done deal.

Pervan offers click-furniture

And while the ink on their project has not even dried, another potential investor in Vukovar has contacted the Ministry of Agriculture. This is the company Bjelin, or Pervanovo, owned by the most famous Croatian Swede Darko Pervan. He already has a factory for three-layer parquet in Ogulin, and recently in Bjelovar, the former Tehno drvo which he purchased from Joza Kalem. The Swedish employer immediately increased salaries for all workers upon arriving in Bjelovar and provided them with indefinite contracts, and is now announcing a new cycle of investments in the Bjelovar plant, but also beyond. There are investment options A and B, and everything depends on – the availability of raw material, Croatian oak.
