On the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, gadgets, games, and various humorous products have been trending for some time. While all of them seem fun and promising, Kickstarter wants to see larger campaigns with much more creative and innovative thinking than has been the case so far. A call has been published on the crowdfunding site for projects focused on innovative design and revolutionary technology, reports the portal Engadget.
The best example of such a category is the LightSail campaign, led by Bill Nye, which brought to life the solar sail of astronomer Carl Sagan, as well as the Oculus virtual reality headset.

Oculus raised an impressive $2.4 million on the platform, and they also caught the attention of Facebook, which acquired Oculus for two billion dollars. Additionally, the underwater drone OpenROV raised over $800,000 on the platform.
With technology that pushes boundaries, Kickstarter’s team is looking for campaigns that are working on developing tools to help revive others’ projects. One such example is the electronic board developed by the company Particle, which allows individuals to create their own IoT (internet of things) devices. Another example is Instrument 1, developed by the company Artiphon, which functions as several types of musical instruments.
