Ministers of Serbia, Montenegro, BiH, and Slovenia Announce ‘Regional Message for the Agrokor Case’

Serbian Minister of Trade and Tourism Rasim Ljajić stated on Tuesday, a day before the meeting in Belgrade with colleagues from the region, that he expects each country where “Agrokor” operated to outline what it has done regarding the existing crisis.

The Ministers of Trade and Economy from Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro are expected to analyze the crisis at a meeting in Belgrade on Wednesday and consider what has been done to stabilize operations. They will discuss what measures have been taken and whether there is anything they could do together to protect the workers and suppliers of “Agrokor”.

Ljajić noted for RTS that it was concluded at the meeting on Tuesday in Sarajevo that it is important to prevent the outflow of funds from “Mercator” in Serbia to Croatia or any other country.

Ultimate Responsible Approach

Each country is autonomous, Ljajić assessed, stating that Serbia first began consultations with “Mercator” and suppliers.

“It has shown an extremely responsible approach to the problem,” he said.

Although this is a crisis situation, there is no need to take any radical measures regarding “Mercator” as it operates stably, meets the needs with smaller suppliers, and special contracts have been concluded with larger suppliers, Ljajić stated.

Announcing tomorrow’s meeting from which a “regional message for the Agrokor case” will be sent, Ljajić concluded that everyone has economic interests that need to be protected and it is expected that the states will implement measures to do so.
