For a full 5 years, I studied successful people, here are 8 habits they have in common

Accountant Tom Corley studied the daily habits of 233 wealthy and successful individuals for a full 5 years, comparing the daily rituals of millionaires with the habits of 128 individuals who do not earn much. This led him to eight specific daily habits that suggest prosperity:

1. They wake up early

More than 50 percent of the surveyed millionaires wake up at least three hours before going to work. Most use this time for personal projects, exercise, or planning their day.

– Waking up at five to dedicate yourself to three things you want to accomplish for yourself that day means taking full control of your life, Corley tells CNBC.

2. They read a lot

As many as 80 percent of the surveyed wealthy individuals revealed to Corley that they read at least 30 minutes daily with the aim of learning new things. They do not read fiction but prefer books on history, biographies, or literature specialized in specific areas of knowledge.

3. They spend at least 15, and up to 30 minutes daily on focused thinking

– Wealthy individuals contemplate solutions to problems in the morning, most often for 15 minutes, in complete solitude, says Corley. In the morning hours, they will consider issues regarding their career, personal life, or health.

Thinking about things that matter to us in complete peace and solitude reduces stress levels.

4. Exercise is high on their priority list

Daily exercise clears the mind and makes you more motivated. At least half an hour a day, 76 percent of the surveyed wealthy individuals spend running, cycling, or in aerobics training.

5. They surround themselves with inspiring people

– You are as successful as the people you are most often in contact with, says Corley. If you are still not surrounded by highly motivated and successful people in your business life, do not worry.

Millionaires love to volunteer because those are places where they meet unusual, smart, and motivated people. Additionally, be careful who you associate with, as millionaires do not like people who radiate negative, toxic energy.

6. They achieve their goals

Most newly minted millionaires first decide how they will become wealthy, and then they realize it. About 80 percent are almost obsessed with achieving their own goals, whether they are daily goals or long-term plans.

7. They get enough sleep

Most millionaires interviewed by Corley, 89 percent, sleep on average about 7 to 10 hours a day. Being rested and well-slept is crucial for improving memory and creativity.

8. They do not waste time on people who waste time

Money is not the only important item in the lives of millionaires. They value time as well.

– Time wasted cannot be regained, says Corley, who warns that one should spend as little time as possible not only with people who do not deserve your time but also on social media, whose content is often completely meaningless.
