Russians, Americans, and British are at war on Twitter, G7 considers sanctions against Putin

Boris Johnson, the British Foreign Secretary, in a Twitter post, ahead of the G7 meeting, reveals that the United Kingdom will seek new sanctions against Russia due to the support Vladimir Putin provides to Bashar al-Assad.

Due to the chemical weapons attack, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including children, Boris Johnson requested, as he wrote in his tweet, “very strict” sanctions against Russia, and a document listing the sanctions has been prepared. In his post, he mentioned that he canceled his visit to Moscow to discuss Syria and Russian support for Assad with his G7 partners.

– It is time to confront Putin with the truth about the tyrant he persistently supports, he said in an interview with The Sun.

The Russians did not take long to respond. Again, via Twitter, the Russian Embassy in London informed G7 representatives that such ultimatums only bring all involved closer to a real war. In this context, the Russians referred to Donald Trump as a war leader and Boris Johnson as his messenger.

At the G7 meeting, which is taking place in Italy, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrived. He stated that the U.S. will hold accountable anyone responsible for crimes against the innocent, anywhere in the world.

Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano welcomed the American and European rapprochement through their positions on Syria. The G7 meeting is being held in Lucca, an Italian city in Tuscany.
