During Advent, free public transport on weekends

Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić announced today at Ban Jelačić Square that public transport will be free every weekend from Friday at noon until Sunday at midnight during Advent, until January 8. This aims to encourage Zagreb residents to avoid driving cars into the city center and instead use public transport to prevent street congestion.

The first zone will be free, but the second zone will be charged for routes to Velika Gorica, Zaprešić, and elsewhere.

– We are defending the title of the most beautiful Advent, and considering that we expect an even larger number of people to come during Advent, which we will officially open tomorrow at 18:30 at Tomislav Square. On this occasion, we have decided that public transport in Zagreb will be free every weekend, starting today at noon until January 8 at midnight – said Mayor Milan Bandić.

He added that the money that will “not be collected on tickets” will be earned through an increased number of people in the city, reports Večernji list.
