Any society that wishes to progress and become sustainable and responsible must not overlook the potential of women. Despite this, there are few women in leadership positions, and even fewer at the top of companies. This is emphasized by Dorotea Effenberger, CEO of Tahograf, ahead of this year’s ‘Women in Business’ conference, who is actively working to ensure that women’s voices are heard in the entrepreneurial scene. As part of the European Union’s ‘European Network of Female Entrepreneurship’ program, she is one of the ambassadors of women’s entrepreneurship and a mentor to women who have decided to start their own businesses, about which she will speak more at Lider’s conference taking place on December 1st at the Zagreb Youth Theatre.
Who are the most powerful – No woman should be denied access to work simply because she is a woman, but equally, no woman should be appointed to a position solely because she is a woman. Wise companies must rid themselves of prejudices, remove the ‘glass ceiling’, and motivate women to become more involved in strategically important decision-making – emphasizes Effenberger. In 2015, the title of the most powerful woman in business was held by Gordana Kovačević, CEO of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, and on December 1st we will find out if there has been a change in that position and who has made it onto Lider’s exclusive list of the three hundred most powerful women in Croatian business.
