Gordana Deranja: I will insist on seven demands addressed to the Government before the elections

Gordana Deranja characterized the re-election for the position of president of the Croatian Employers’ Association as an honor and obligation, emphasizing that she will insist that the Government respects all seven demands that this professional organization has sent to all political parties before the parliamentary elections. According to her, HUP will continue to actively participate in the public debate on tax reform.

– It is necessary to calm the dissonant tones between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Finance regarding the tax rate for caterers, as this is merely a proposal for a law and a public discussion in which all interested parties are expected to present reasoned comments and proposals, Deranja said for Lider.

When asked what activities HUP will undertake regarding the labor force deficit in Croatia and the issue of employing foreigners, Deranja labeled the opinion that importing labor would significantly affect the cost of labor as populism and noted that not enough has been done at the Employment Service to retrain the existing workforce.

– The education system does not follow the needs of the economy, and finally, someone needs to ask the state what they have done all these years to retrain our unemployed, said Deranja, who once again confirmed HUP’s position that it will continue to be a constructive partner to the Government, acting, among other things, through the National Council for Competitiveness.
