In a new era where technology occupies an increasingly important part of human lives, the habits and needs of hotel guests are changing. For 70 percent of them, the most important factor when choosing a hotel is the availability of wireless internet, while for almost 50 percent, the availability of free wi-fi is crucial. This is shown by research from several online portals (statista.com, cnbc.com, hospitalitynet.org) compiled by Hrvatski Telekom (HT) as part of their hospitality or accommodation industry services.
– A range of different hotels, with various guest profiles across Croatia, already use HT’s services, from TV systems, wi-fi, fixed and mobile telephony, internal networks, video surveillance, fiscalization, to ICT equipment, e-charging stations for motor vehicles, e-bikes, smart parking, and more. For all of them, it is most important that the hotel offers everything guests need in a technological sense, HT emphasizes, without disclosing the number of hotels in Croatia that they provide such services to.
They add that research has also shown that what was once extremely important to hotel guests, from location, staff friendliness to room comfort, remains important, but modern guests increasingly choose hotels that have strong and preferably affordable or free technological infrastructure and services. This is supported by the fact that 60 percent of hotels worldwide use mobile websites to present their services. About 40 percent also use mobile applications, 53 percent use digital signage technology (a form of electronic presentation of various content and information on screens, displays, etc.), while 11 percent of hotels worldwide already have the option for check-in via mobile phone.
