In order to achieve stronger and more coherent management of state property, the Government on Thursday submitted amendments to the Law on the Organization and Scope of Ministries and Other Central Bodies of State Administration to parliamentary procedure, proposing that the Central Office for State Property Management (SUUDI), formerly DUUDI, be transformed into the Ministry of State Property. This, emphasized Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the session, gives special importance to the management of state property as one of the essential factors for economic growth.
– Croatia has had various institutions and models for managing state property over the past 25 years, but none have met the goals, and state property is still not sufficiently utilized. Therefore, the establishment of the new ministry should enable the resolution of a number of issues related to unused state ownership and its utilization, concluded Plenković, as reported by the media.
According to earlier announcements, the new ministry should be headed by Minister in the Government Goran Marić.
The transformation of the office into a Ministry, it is emphasized in the justification of the legislative proposal, should enable the establishment of an appropriate management structure necessary for the efficient performance of tasks related to the management and disposal of state property. Along with the establishment of the new ministry, the Government proposes a series of changes through amendments to the same law, which mainly relate to aligning the scope of ministries or state offices with the laws governing their areas.
