Although it looks like a laptop at first glance, the HP Elite x3 Lap Dock is actually an expensive accessory for the recently introduced HP smartphone Elite x3. With its help, the mobile phone becomes a true computer running Windows 10…
The Elite x3 itself is a very powerful mobile phone with a screen of nearly 6 inches, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of storage. However, the mobile phone is not a classic computer. Not in this case – thanks to Microsoft’s Continuum technology, it can easily connect to an external monitor, mouse, and keyboard using the dock that is sold with it. For those who find this insufficient and want complete mobility, HP has prepared the Elite x3 Lap Dock, which looks like a laptop in every way, although it is merely a shell without a processor and its own memory that will transform this mobile phone into a full-fledged laptop. The device features a 12.5-inch Full HD display, a comfortable keyboard with backlighting for typing in the dark, and integrated Bang&Olufsen stereo speakers. There are also the classic ports we expect from a laptop.
Finally, a weight of only 1 kg makes this device easily portable and will not be an additional concern. This combination is primarily aimed at business users (although others will appreciate it as well) as it offers fantastic capabilities and top-notch flexibility. The only issue is the price, as the mobile phone itself costs $799, and the lap dock costs an additional $599. However, it has already been mentioned that HP will sell them together for a slightly more affordable $1300.
