Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić announced on Wednesday that he will submit a proposal to the City Assembly to change the title from ‘mother caregiver’ to ‘parent caregiver’ and that they will receive 5250 kuna net monthly, instead of 3206 kuna, which was previously planned.
– This means it will still be net gross or gross net. Here, the mountains trembled and a mouse was born,” Bandić emphasized.
Bandić stated, media reports, that the new proposal under which the ‘parent caregiver’ would receive a higher amount than previously planned arose because 1300 kuna will be refunded every month from income tax, and this will be added to the amount that parents receive from the City for the third child. He said that even this amount will not be sufficient for many, but that it is the maximum they could do.
– Well, 5250 kuna is not a small amount in a situation where over 50 percent of Zagreb residents work for amounts up to 5500 kuna. They get up, brush their teeth, get dressed, go to work, work eight hours, and return home.
Bandić explained that he will propose to the City Assembly to change the title from ‘mother caregiver’ to ‘parent caregiver’ because they must not reduce the mother to just raising children, as he said, ‘the wicked can twist that.’
