Croatian Indigenous Products at the Largest Small Producers Fair in Europe

On Thursday, the 11th edition of the most important international gastro-event Terra Madre Salone del Gusto began in Turin. Among numerous exhibitors from around the world are Croatian representatives led by Kinookus in collaboration with Slow Food conviviums Slow Food Dubrovnik, Pelješac, Zagreb Agram, and Mali plac – a well-known small market for local and organic products.

At the largest small producers fair in Europe, Croatian indigenous products such as Pelješac varenik – a precious syrup made from the must of the indigenous grape variety Plavac mali, hand-processed in the Pelješac landscape of traditional dry-stone terrace, garlic from Ljubitovica, and traditional cheese prgica will be presented.

The inclusion of Pelješac varenik and garlic from Ljubitovica under the auspices of Slow Food is an exceptionally significant contribution to the protection and promotion of Croatian indigenous products, their cultivation methods, and the traditional landscape as well as local culture and gastronomic offerings.

The fair will last until September 26, and the Croatian delegation can thank the ESSEDRA project that promotes Slow Food for its participation.
