Unilever acquires American Seventh Generation and expands its range of eco-friendly brands

Dutch food and cosmetics giant Unilever has announced plans to acquire the American group of eco-friendly cleaning products Seventh Generation, expanding its spectrum of eco-friendly brands. However, the costs and expected date of purchase have not been disclosed.

– Seventh Generation is a pioneer in corporate responsibility and sustainable product innovations, including plant-based detergents and household cleaning agents, Unilever reported on Monday.

Last year, Seventh Generation generated revenues of $200 million, Unilever stated, adding that they have “recorded double-digit annual growth rates over the past 10 years.”

The American company sells recycled material wipes, plant-based detergents, soaps without synthetic ingredients, and coconut oil-based baby care products.

– This addition to Unilever’s product portfolio will help us meet the growing demand for high-quality products with a specific purpose, said Nitin Paranjpe, head of Unilever’s home care division.

Unilever operates in over 190 countries and owns brands such as Lipton teas, Knorr soups, Rexona deodorants, and Bertolli olive oil. They employ approximately 169,000 people worldwide.
