Croatia Airlines Introduces Additional Flights for Winter Schedule

Croatia Airlines, the Croatian national carrier and a member of the Star Alliance, is introducing updates to its winter flight schedule, which begins on October 30 of this year and is valid until March 26, 2017, offering passengers from various parts of Croatia an even higher quality selection of travel to European destinations.

With the start of the winter flight schedule, two additional flights will be introduced on the regular international route Split – Rome, on Thursdays and Sundays, providing passengers with daily connectivity from Split to the Italian capital.

Also new are additional international flights on the Split – Munich route, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so that on this route Croatia Airlines planes will fly directly every day of the week, except on Saturdays.

In addition, with the introduction of an additional flight on Tuesdays on the Zagreb – Copenhagen route, the number of weekly flights on this route will increase from five to six.

The winter flight schedule will again include direct international flights on the Dubrovnik – Frankfurt route, on which planes will fly three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. This will provide residents of the southernmost Croatian county with better connectivity to an important European hub and favorable connecting flights from Frankfurt to destinations around the world.

To make room for the introduction of new flights and to optimize the network during the winter period and improve the overall product, Croatia Airlines planes will not operate on the Zagreb – Pristina and Dubrovnik – Rome routes this winter.

It is worth noting that the trend of increasing market capacity for Croatia Airlines began ahead of this year’s tourist season when, for the first time in the company’s history, four new international routes were introduced simultaneously – from Zagreb to Lisbon, Prague, Milan, and St. Petersburg. This contributed to an increase in passenger traffic, which was 4 percent higher in the period from January to August 2016 compared to the same period last year, further strengthening the company’s market position as a regional leader in Southeast Europe.

This year, a total of approximately 1,970,000 passengers are expected on Croatia Airlines flights, which is about 6.5 percent more passengers compared to 2015, when 1,849,000 passengers were transported.

The fleet consists of thirteen aircraft: four Airbus 319 (capacity 144 seats), two Airbus 320 (capacity 174 seats), six turboprop Dash 8-Q400 aircraft (capacity 76 seats), and a Fokker 100 which is leased during the summer season with 109 seats.
