Do You Know What the Highest Paying Professions Are?

During their education, everyone dreams of a high salary, of being able to afford an apartment, a car, a vacation, and a few new clothes. Of course, this is just a fantasy and daydreaming because when they step into the harsh labor market, they quickly realize what awaits them and how long they will have to work and strive to reach a salary of 1000 euros. However, some reach that goal sooner than others. Looking at the average, the path to it is long. In 2016, the average monthly net salary, according to the Moja plaća service, was 5357 kuna, and in June, according to state statistics, it amounted to 5686 kuna.

Continuous Education

– Besides the top management and managerial job category, which has about 113% and 76% higher salaries compared to the average, the highest paying professions are in information technology (+35% higher than the average), where the average monthly net salary is 7212 kuna, and human resources, where the average monthly net salary is 7205 kuna (34% higher than the average) – they inform us from the MojPosao.hr portal.

Ten years ago, the labor market was completely different than it is today. Today, competencies are sought that differ from those of a decade ago. As the global market and trends (which also affect trends in Croatia) change, we dare say, every few years, if not every year, employees must continuously educate themselves.

– Regardless of the choice of profession and job, lifelong education is imperative. Sometimes, one-day workshops or seminars are quite sufficient to consolidate material or upgrade knowledge, even to specialize in a certain area. There are many institutions and free education options, online or physical, where you can qualify for a specific profession. The possibilities are endless; you just need the will to learn and explore them – they say from the Moj posao portal. They note that sometimes an internet connection and free time are sufficient for knowledge improvement, so there is almost no excuse for delaying education.

– Regardless of whether we learn while working or in our free time, it is wise to refresh knowledge from time to time and acquire new skills that will make us more competitive candidates in our field – they emphasize there. Today, fortunately, it does not take too much money to invest in additional education. The offer is diverse, and anyone who wants to learn independently can always reach for free online tools and education. Of course, it should be kept in mind that this type of education favors those who already have knowledge and skills that they then upgrade with new developments in that area.

– For younger generations, this form of learning and improvement is almost innate as they grow up with new technologies. Older individuals who want to remain competitive should also follow this principle. It is always possible to independently explore free online options. Today’s market is dynamic, new skills are being perfected and upgraded at a rapid pace. Therefore, certificates are useful, but if you cannot afford them at the moment, it does not mean you have to stagnate in education – they conclude on the MojPosao.hr portal. Among the highest paying professions in Croatia are pharmacists, dentists, air traffic controllers, financial experts, and consultants.

Who is in Demand

– Since it involves specific knowledge and skills necessary for performing these jobs, one must complete the appropriate faculty and, if necessary, further specialize in the mentioned area. Skill improvement is most effective when conducted within the workplace, but in addition, it is certainly necessary to combine various sources, from formal or informal courses or seminars to webinars – explains Jelena Janković, MBA, head of the Career Center at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZŠEM).

For someone to reach the level of having the highest paying job in Croatia, or to be in that category, they must invest a lot of time and effort. The most important thing is that this process is continuous.

– If you want to remain competitive in the labor market, continuous improvement is the only way to maintain competitiveness – concludes Janković.

We have all read in the newspapers how much the richest Croats approximately earn. Six-figure numbers are a dream for many, if not a goal. To achieve this, one must work hard on themselves, educate themselves to the maximum, and improve wherever possible; that is the foundation. After that comes hard work and proving oneself. And if you are lucky, you might one day earn six-figure sums. Currently, the most modern professions are within the ICT industry. Although the official education system currently, at least quantitatively, does not meet the needs of that part of the industry, more and more people are choosing such a career. Finance professionals are always in demand, as are lawyers, not to mention doctors and dentists.
