Bauk: For a Grand Coalition, HDZ Will Have to Do Something About It

According to the latest results of exit polls from the early parliamentary elections held on Sunday, the two strongest political options – the People’s Coalition gathered around the SDP and the HDZ – each won 57 parliamentary mandates. A poll published around 8 PM gives the SDP one mandate less compared to the exit poll published an hour earlier, while the HDZ with partners remains at 57 mandates. Most climbs to 12 mandates with one more mandate.

Croatia decides on the composition of the Parliament, Bandić expects Croats to have their “clickers” work.

The only option gathered around the Living Wall remains at seven mandates, the IDS lost a mandate and now has three, the coalition “For Prime Minister” Milan Bandić still has 2, and the HDSSB has one mandate. The Pametno party, according to the new poll, also wins one mandate, although the earlier poll did not predict any won mandates.

In the SDP, there is disappointment, they do not hide that they expected more mandates.

– We expected more, but this result is good because we are the relative electoral winners, which is the most important, says Siniša Hajdaš Dončić.

For the SDP, there are no secrets regarding the formation of the government, says Arsen Bauk, “the closest to us are the IDS and national minorities, and we will need at least 7 more votes. A grand coalition?

– Well, if the other side wants to go in the direction of a coalition, they will have to do something about it, says Bauk.

On the other hand, the HDZ is cautious, certainly expecting a few more mandates, and they are counting on the votes from the diaspora, specifically three mandates.

– Given the results from the diaspora, we can count on forming a government, said Gordan Jandroković, stating that Most, Milan Bandić’s Party, HDSSB, and representatives of minorities are preferred for cooperation.

And in Most, there is satisfaction.

– I have always said that I am satisfied with double-digit mandates, I am really satisfied, confirmed Ivan Kovačić, mentioning that Most was just a few months ago on the verge of crossing the 5.5 percent threshold.

– Most has shown that it has continuity and a stable electorate. We proudly showed how to love one’s country and defend national interests, commented Ines Strenja Linić on the first results of the early elections.

And when asked about cooperation in government, Most states that there is no flexibility. They say that the requested guarantees are not blackmail but part of Most’s program.
