Ruđer Bošković Institute Receives Over Two Million Kuna for Research

Ruđer’s scientists have over two million kuna available for contemporary research in biomedicine, nanotechnology, chemistry, and ecology. These are innovative and highly commercial projects that are expected to contribute to the development of new products, services, and technological processes such as the development of methods for detecting new potentially pathogenic viruses, detecting mycotoxins in food and the environment, early detection of Alzheimer’s disease markers, or the development of prototypes of multifunctional nanoparticles for industrial applications.

The research funds were approved as part of the Innovative Concept Verification Program (POC) of the HAMAG-BICRO agency, which this year allocated a total of 19 million kuna in non-repayable grants for 62 innovative projects, of which seven projects were awarded to scientists at the Ruđer Bošković Institute (IRB). In addition to research, the funds obtained through the PoC program will benefit scientists for hiring collaborators, purchasing necessary equipment, and covering intellectual property protection costs.
