Orepić: As Minister, I Assert That the Composition of the Constitutional Court Poses a Threat to National Security

– We are entering the pre-election campaign with the desire for the truth to be known – the government lasted briefly and we brought down the government due to the collapse of the clientelist part of the HDZ. The truth is that the composition of the Constitutional Court poses a threat to national security due to the messages it sends. They create total distrust in the legal system. I am the first to assert this as a minister. Furthermore, we have 40,950 people deregistered from fictitious residences. If we take this number, which is not final, we can say that the legitimacy of the entire government at all levels can be called into question. This is the truth with which MOST enters before the voters. This was stated by the technical Minister of the Interior, Vlaho Orepić, while cooking on the RTL Television show in response to the question of what MOST can promise to do if it receives a sufficient number of votes, and whether it is more difficult to go into the campaign since MOST was in power.

In addition to the Constitutional Court, Orepić also spoke about the restructuring of the police organization into five police administrations. He believes that a lot has been done in this area – the proposal for public discussion is ready, waiting for public discussion before starting the reorganization of the Ministry of the Interior.

– We will abolish 340 organizational structures – 340 fewer different heads and leaders. At least 1,500 people will go into the ‘core’ business of the police. This will provide much better control, work, and service of the police.

And this would bring 214,000 kuna in savings, but, as the technical minister claims, “we cannot look at it through the cost, that was not the primary goal. This was about the functional organization of the Ministry of the Interior.”

He denied any desire to remove the head of the Dubrovnik police administration, Tonći Radibratović, who has some of the best results, allegedly to bring someone from Ploče.

– That is not true. This is precisely one of the reasons why we need to go into reorganization. Imagine, the county head said that he would not give up his police administration. Politics has so intertwined with the police that they consider the police their infrastructure. This is unacceptable. There have been a whole series of complaints against him, internal control has conducted its review, we have some findings and further proceedings are underway. Mr. Tonći Radibratović knows this, I personally told him.
