Everything About Film from A to Z – Workshops Start in October

When we put colorful beads of dreams and love into a transparent box of magic, a box of wishes, and shake it vigorously, to the rhythm of our own heartbeat, what do we get? The realization of a dream!? Laboratory of Culture – Felix, is your transparent box where you can freely place colorful beads of dreams and love.

In Laboratory of Culture – Felix, you will learn Everything About Film from A to Z, from the history of film to a finished authorial work, on the theme of tolerance. The instructors are professionally confirmed names, from film theorists, directors, cinematographers, sound engineers, editors, costume designers, makeup artists, composers, set designers, lighting masters, journalists, editors… Thus, we will find out where and when film was born? Who shot the first film in Zagreb? Who were the first actors, and what were the first themes? How is a screenplay written? What is its purpose? How to put a story from your head onto paper?

This is how Laboratory of Culture – Felix announces a unique film workshop aimed at young people, where participants will be able to express their creativity by working on their own film.

“The idea for the film workshop originated within a group of top professionals who want to pass on their knowledge to young people and stimulate interest in the numerous professions offered by film art. Among the instructors are the winner of the Golden Arena, costume designer Željka Franulović, award-winning cinematographer Branko Cahun, and many other interesting instructors who will show, through concrete examples, how a film is created step by step. The space where the workshop will be held is particularly inspiring, in the charming environment of Zagreb film in Zagreb’s Kaptol. At the end, with the help of the instructors, participants will shoot their own film on the theme of tolerance“, announces the founder of the Culture Laboratory – Felix, Mirjana Novak Perjanec, a long-time collaborator and assistant director on numerous film and television projects in Croatia.

Participants will also learn how to build a film apartment or house, what a bug is, what a fishing rod is, what kind of film lighting there is, how music for film is created…

“Film education, although present in the world for almost a century, has often been insufficient in our context. The great hunger of students, pupils, and participants for film education, as well as the immediately visible results and progress, have only confirmed the existence of a great need for audiovisual education. Studying film history, aesthetics, theory, and practice will undoubtedly contribute to both cognitive and emotional reflection, as well as the maturation of each participant. A film school outside the academic community has long been a necessity. Now the time has finally come for it to become a reality,” announces film historian and one of the instructors, Daniel Rafaelić.

Enrollment lasts until the end of September, and workshops begin in October.
