Seven Harsh Truths of Life That Will Make You Stronger

It is often difficult to admit our own weaknesses and not make excuses for our own or others’ behavior. Most of our lives are spent waiting for something to happen, for something else to end or begin. But that something is, as Bright Side writes, life itself. What are we waiting for? It is time to face the harsh truth and start working on ourselves without delay.

No one is actually so busy that they cannot respond to you

People have time for what matters to them. We text, call, and respond to emails from people we want to talk to. If someone is not reaching out to you, they do not want to. The sooner you stop justifying people who do not treat you well, the better.

Everyone puts their own interests first

No matter how caring or kind someone is, they are driven by their own interests. Even the best employer will not notice that you are overwhelmed with work unless you let them know (sometimes more than once). Most people take as much as they are given, regardless of everything. Therefore, set your own boundaries and do not allow others to cross them. Strong individuals are not afraid to say no or to rebel when necessary. They know they must stand up for themselves because no one else will do it for them.

It is impossible to make everyone happy

If you did everything that every person in your life told you to do, you would probably go crazy. The simple truth is that we cannot please everyone. There will always be someone who will not be happy with our choices or way of life and will criticize regardless of everything. Make a decision that is good for you and do not give up on it because, after all, the only judge is you.

The world owes you absolutely nothing

You can be the smartest, wittiest, and most interesting person to walk the earth, but if no one knows that except you, it will not help you much. It all comes down to two choices: you can spend your life feeling sorry for yourself because you are getting less than you deserve, or you can take what you believe belongs to you.

You make excuses

Blaming others for not having enough time, money, or energy to devote to you to fulfill your desires is completely pointless. Instead of excuses and justifications, find a way to overcome the obstacles in front of you.

Actions define us, not thoughts

Thinking about a million ways you can fix the world will not get you anywhere as long as you do not do something about what you are thinking.

No one will save you from your life

We are always waiting for something. The right person, the realization of a dream, a new job. When we are dissatisfied with our current situation, we irrationally hope for a miracle that will change everything. The harsh truth is that it does not work. Instead of relying on miracles, rely on yourself and take action.
