City of Vukovar Paid Entrepreneurs the Entire Planned Amount of Subsidies

Vukovar Mayor Ivan Penava handed over contracts on Friday through which 17 subsidies totaling 488 thousand kuna were approved to entrepreneurs from the Program of Measures for Promoting Entrepreneurship Development in 2016 in that city, thus completing the payment of 3 million kuna in entrepreneurial subsidies planned by this program.

“In 2016, we paid Vukovar entrepreneurs 136 subsidies worth three million kuna, and the fact that all the money was disbursed by the end of August speaks to how well the city program for promoting entrepreneurship was received,” said Penava.

He added that an additional 272,000 kuna in subsidies was paid out, with the funds secured through the revision of last year’s subsidy contracts and the withdrawal of funds from entrepreneurs who, for various reasons, could not adhere to the contracts.

The Program of Measures for Promoting Entrepreneurship had 15 measures, of which the most popular was the preservation and development of existing crafts, through which 48 contracts worth around 450,000 kuna were signed, while the financially most significant measure was strengthening competitiveness in production, where entrepreneurs withdrew 1.5 million kuna through six subsidies, said Penava.

He added that through the city’s Program of Measures for Promoting Entrepreneurship, which includes the employment promotion measure, 120 new jobs were created in Vukovar.

He concluded that the purpose of the city administration is to subordinate the economy and “push entrepreneurs who will drive the overall development of the city.”
