From today, we no longer pay 5 kuna monthly fee for radio frequency

The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Activities (Hakom) reported on Thursday that users of telecommunications services with a monthly subscription from Thursday, September 1, no longer pay a 5 kuna monthly fee for radio frequency.

Namely, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure has made amendments to the Regulation on the payment of fees for the right to use addresses, numbers, and radio frequency spectrum, which, in addition to users of certain communication systems, also applies to the entire population, i.e., private and business users.

This means that the provision determining the fee for the end radio station in the subscription payment system, in the amount of 60 kuna annually, is abolished.

As a result, users with a monthly subscription will see a reduction in their monthly financial burden by 5 kuna, which was displayed in their monthly bills as a fee for radio frequency, the statement notes.

In order to encourage competitiveness and increase the use of the radio frequency spectrum in the frequency bands of 3, 5, 10, and 26 GHz, the fee for the use of the radio frequency spectrum for point-to-multipoint networks has been reduced to less than half of the current amount.

These radio frequency bands are currently unused, and the aim of this measure is to attract potential new operators or other users with lower prices, so that this part of the radio frequency spectrum does not remain unused, Hakom emphasizes.

They also state that the fee for the use of the radio frequency spectrum for international point-to-point directed connections has been reduced because these fees are charged both in Croatia and in the country where the other endpoint of the connection is located, which meant that one connection was practically charged twice until now.

Hakom emphasizes that the mentioned fee reductions will contribute to the financial relief of citizens, as well as greater use of the radio frequency spectrum.
