Virovitica is getting a student dormitory for 108 students funded by EU funds

In Virovitica, construction work on a student dormitory began on Wednesday, valued at over 19 million kuna, of which 18.5 million is non-repayable funds from EU sources. On an area of 2,300 square meters, a student dormitory will be built and equipped with 108 beds distributed over two floors in 47 rooms, including 32 double rooms and 5 single rooms. The completion of this project (next year) will increase the availability of higher education for individuals of lower economic status, improve study conditions through cost reduction, and create preconditions for a gradual increase in the number of highly educated people in the Virovitica-Podravina County.

– This is another step forward in improving the quality of student accommodation and the availability of higher education, especially for individuals of lower economic status. Projects for the construction of student dormitories create preconditions for improving the educational structure and therefore have a significant impact on the development of cities and counties in which they are located, said the Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds, Tomislav Tolušić.

The project is funded by the European Structural and Investment Funds under the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014 – 2020. The project holder is the College of Management in Tourism and Informatics in Virovitica, and the completion of the construction of the student dormitory is expected by August 30, 2017.
