According to Veeam’s global research, companies in 2015 experienced an average of 15 unplanned outages, an increase compared to 2014, and the duration of these outages is also increasing, particularly for applications that are critical to business. In today’s digital era, this is unacceptable, and companies need business continuity plans, with constant availability of their services thanks to the latest software that ensures ‘always-on’ business.
Modern companies increasingly rely on software in their operations, so IT departments can no longer get by with the attitude that their service level is ‘okay’ because constant availability and business continuity are the first premises for good business results and satisfied customers, Veeam stated to participants at the WinDays conference.
However, the results of Veeam’s global research show that annual unplanned outages in companies have increased from 13 to 15, the duration of these outages is getting longer, and companies need much more time to recover data and applications. Given that last year saw a record number of people connected (about 42 percent of the world’s population) and with the assumption that by the end of 2020 there will be nearly 21 billion connected devices worldwide, such results are completely unacceptable in today’s economy where speed and reliability are business imperatives, and access to data and applications 24/7 has never been more important, emphasized Veeam.
– A good portion of companies and speakers would probably not be in Poreč these days if they had not based their business on constant availability because users and partners expect this from them, and without it, there are no successful business results, said Saša Hederić, regional manager for Southern and Eastern Europe at Veeam.
– Most organizations are aware of this and are significantly investing in modernizing data centers through virtualization, storage systems, and cloud technologies, but a large number of them still do not meet their business goals and cannot save on IT investments. At the same time, according to our global research, companies in 2015 experienced an average of 15 unplanned outages, which is an increase compared to 2014, and the duration of these outages is also increasing, particularly for applications that are critical to business. In today’s digital era, this is unacceptable, and companies need business continuity plans, with constant availability of their services thanks to the latest software that ensures ‘always-on’ business.
