Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts Darko Horvat, at a working lunch with entrepreneurs organized by HUP, spoke about the law to encourage investments, E-impulse 2016, and the use of EU funds.
He stated that the main goal is to create a favorable business climate for the development of entrepreneurship. A package of 238 laws has been prepared, which will be adopted at the meeting of the Government of the Republic of Croatia on Thursday. Minister Horvat emphasized that the domestic investment potential this year is 12 billion kuna, which can open 7,300 jobs for which the Ministry will provide incentives.
For investments of up to one million euros, the corporate income tax rate will be reduced by 50 percent. Investment of up to three million euros will reduce the corporate income tax rate by 75 percent, and for more than three million euros, it will be 100 percent. Incentives will also be provided based on the unemployment rate for each new job created. The Minister also highlighted that the entrepreneurial impulse will be financed from the structural fund, not from the national fund, and advocates for adopting best practices from neighboring countries in Croatia.
With this goal, a Croatian-German Entrepreneurial Day will be held on June 28, 2016, and a memorandum of cooperation will be signed. The Minister also pointed out that it is necessary to more clearly profile what kind of skilled workforce the real sector needs and to educate accordingly. Regarding the funds from EU funds, Croatia has paid 500 million kuna into the EU treasury and needs to reclaim it through the funds.
Horvat announced that six tenders will be announced through the structural funds. After the presentation, the minister answered questions from entrepreneurs.
