At the first regular meeting of the new Management Board of the Association of Croatian Independent Software Exporters (CISEx), members elected a new president, vice president, and secretary of the association.
The election of the Association’s leadership was the only item on the agenda, and Tajana Barančić (Astra Business Engineering Ltd.) was elected as president for a two-year term. Dženan Lojo (TIS – Object Information Systems Ltd.) was elected as vice president, while the membership entrusted the position of secretary again to Dražen Đurinić (Domino Group Ltd.).
Tajana Barančić was a member of the CISEx Honorary Court from 2013 to 2015, where she established the working methodology. She stated that she would fight for the association to be recognized by the state and to lobby for the implementation of initiatives.
– Through CISEx, we have lobbied for IT and raised the recognition of IT as such. We plan to change smart specialization in about two years. We want to strengthen IT and its recognition and educate and have more programmers.
She cited the biggest problem as the shortage of about a thousand programmers annually in Croatia, and she believes this will increase due to the growth of IT companies.
– CISEx has also tried to change the curriculum quotas directed more towards programmers at relevant faculties. However, it is not enough just at the faculties; it is also necessary for children to become interested and find it appealing.
