HPB’s Profit in the First Quarter Exceeds Record 2015

Croatian Postal Bank achieved an operating profit of 83 million kuna, which is 8 percent higher than in the same period in 2015. Housing loans increased by 19.2 percent, and the number of current accounts for citizens rose by 14 percent, which translates to 7,000 new members in the first three months.

Croatian Postal Bank recorded growth in profit, loans, and the number of clients in the first quarter, as announced to media representatives today at the bank’s headquarters in Zagreb.

– The operating profit amounts to 83 million kuna, and we are even more pleased with the increase in the number of clients. I would particularly emphasize the successful project of refinancing housing loans for clients of other banks (with an average interest rate of 4.8 percent) and seven new cities and municipalities that transferred their operations to Croatia in the first three months of this year. We have achieved a higher profit than the record year of 2015, and we have started better than we hoped – stated the CEO of HPB, Tomislav Vuić.

Thus, this bank achieved an operating profit of 83 million kuna, which is 8 percent higher than in the same period in 2015. Net profit simultaneously grew by 5.4 percent, to 44.6 million kuna, achieving a new best result for that period. The bank also boasted strong growth in lending to the population during the observed three months. During this period, HPB approved approximately 400 million kuna in loans to citizens, representing an annual growth of 4.8 percent. Of that amount, nearly half consists of housing loans, which increased by 19.2 percent. The number of current accounts for citizens also rose by 14 percent, which translates to 7,000 new members in the first three months.

At the conference, plans for the future were also announced. Cooperation with local government is being prepared, HPB intends to focus on ecology (by financing energy efficiency projects – five large projects), and cooperation with the Association of Craftsmen of the City of Zagreb and their members was also announced. HPB’s non-purpose loans will be available for contracting in more than 120 offices of Croatian Post starting from March.
