Saab Company Aims to Enhance Cooperation Between Croatia and Sweden Within the Exporters Club

We believe that local presence and dialogue with Croatian entrepreneurs are crucial for a better understanding of the market and operations.

Recently, Saab AB,  a global company that considers innovation part of its DNA, joined the membership of Lider’s Exporters Club. According to data from 2015, with sales  exceeding 27 billion Swedish kronor, nearly 15,000 employees and clients in over 100 countries across all continents, Saab is a strong international player in the defense and security market. It delivers top-notch products, services, and solutions ranging from military defense to civil security and continuously develops, adapts, and enhances new technologies to meet the changing needs and demands of customers.

– With a broad portfolio of innovative and cost-effective defense solutions in the air, land, and naval domains, we strengthen combat readiness. From complete platforms such as Gripen, Erieye AEW&C, or A26, our latest submarines, to systems like Carl-Gustaf, RBS 70, and our extensive family of radars or components such as Barracuda camouflage, we enhance our clients’ capabilities. Additionally, Saab is a pioneer in system integration approaches in close collaboration with partners. We invest about 25 percent of sales in research and development, thereby strengthening our competitiveness. We strive to reduce costs and improve efficiency at all levels, says Sanja Hrvojević Beganović, Saab’s representative for Croatia and Sales and Marketing Director for Central and Southeastern Europe.

Local Presence

Saab’s ability to create profitable industrial cooperation for its customers and partners is one of the main elements of its competitive offering. Strong ties between the two countries are formed through close partnerships with an industrially strong and innovative country like Sweden, and this will last for decades to come. Saab and Sweden have strong references in building competencies, trade, increasing exports, and leveraging the advantages of each side for mutual benefit.

– Since 2007, we have had an office in Croatia, and we believe that exports and investments are the only way to get Croatia moving, achieve long-term economic growth, and solve its economic and social problems. That is why we became a member of the Exporters Club, as we believe that local presence and dialogue with Croatian entrepreneurs are crucial for a better understanding of the market and operations. In the Club, we have recognized Croatian companies that promote the spirit of success, innovation, and good business ethics in the economy and showcase the best of Croatia in business and products, explains Hrvojević Beganović.

Technology Transfer

Croatia is already using Saab’s products such as the RBS-15 anti-ship missiles, and the expansion of the proven Coastal Surveillance system has been contracted. Saab is also known as the manufacturer of Gripen, the next-generation multirole combat aircraft that has begun practical application. Utilizing the latest technology, Gripen can perform a range of operational activities in air-to-air, air-to-ground, and reconnaissance missions. It is used by the air forces of Sweden, the Czech Republic, Hungary, South Africa, and Thailand. The UK Test Pilots School (ETPS), the British school for test pilots, uses Gripen in an advanced platform for fast jets for test pilots worldwide. This year, Saab signed a contract with the Brazilian government for the development and production of 36 Gripen NG for the Brazilian air force, and negotiations with Slovakia are ongoing.

– The partnership with Sweden offers great opportunities for innovative cooperation and technology transfer over time, concludes Hrvojević Beganović.
