Biology Night, an event held for the eighth consecutive year, aims to popularize biology as a science that deals with knowledge about life on planet Earth through simple and interesting experiments, short presentations, workshops, and games. It takes place today in Zagreb at 4 locations across the city.
The Department of Biology at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, has opened its doors to all age groups, expecting over 5000 visitors throughout the day. The content of the workshops is truly diverse. For example, the workshop popularly titled ’Spiderman vs Antman’ is designed to explain the anatomy and morphology of insects and arachnids in a 5-minute presentation to interested participants, while the goal of the workshop titled ’Windows to the Past’ is to highlight the close connection between the geological past of the Earth and the development of living organisms, which is visible in geological records, fossil remains, and within the organisms themselves.
The conceptual initiator of the project is Prof. Dr. Gordana Rusak, the main coordinator is Dr. Ivana Šola, and the implementers are students, employees, assistants, and professors from the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Science. You can experience Biology Night at the following addresses: Horvatovac 102a, Roosevelt Square 6, Marulić Square 20, and in the Botanical Garden, with all workshops open until 11 PM, except for the one at Marulić Square, which is open until 8 PM.
