Opportunity for Start-ups Developing Applications for the Hospitality and Catering Sector

Metro Group and Techstars opened applications on Tuesday for the second Metro Accelerator – a global program for the development of technological applications for the hospitality and catering sector, to which all start-ups developing innovative applications for the business needs of restaurants, hotels, and caterers can apply until June 20.

Each of the ten selected start-ups will be offered an investment of 120,000 euros and access to a network of experts who will assist them in further developing their digital solutions. Investors and mentors will select the 10 best, and applications for the program are conducted via the website metroaccelerator.com.

– We launched the program in 2015 with the aim of creating a platform that will connect technological start-ups with Metro’s customers from the hospitality and hotel sector, said Olaf Koch, Chairman of the Management Board of Metro Group.

He believes that digital business models and services will play an even greater role in the future success of Metro’s customers.

– An increasing number of companies are approaching us with new ideas, and through the Metro Accelerator, we want to provide them with the opportunity to test and develop their ideas with the support of international experts, Koch said.

The ten selected start-ups will be able to enhance their knowledge, ideas, and business in September 2016 under the guidance of experienced mentors in the program at the Metro Accelerator headquarters in Berlin. Metro will provide selected start-ups with experts in procurement, sales, marketing, and communications, while Techstars will bring internationally proven methodologies for mentoring start-ups and numerous mentors, investors, and experienced members of the start-up community to the program.

We remind you that the first Metro Accelerator in 2015 received applications from 20 countries, including two applications from Croatia that made it into the top 75.
