LIDER invest Presented – Selection of the Best Investment

The LIDER invest project – selection of the best large, medium, and small manufacturing investments in Croatia, was presented today at a press conference at the Croatian Chamber of Economy by Miodrag Šajatović, editor-in-chief of the business weekly Lider. Šajatović emphasized that during every change of government, there is talk of large investments, lowland railways, and similar topics, while manufacturing is rarely mentioned, despite its presence in Croatia.

– As a society, we do not believe in ourselves and our capabilities, and this must change. This is exactly what we are doing by selecting the best investments; this is the first selection, and I believe that the LIDER invest project will come to life and endure – said Šajatović.

There are three categories of investments: large investments – over 100,000,001 kuna, medium investments – over 10,000,001 kuna but less than 100,000,000 kuna, and small investments – less than 10,000,000 kuna.

The selection criteria will include: export share, number of newly created jobs, and modernity of technology, while the expert committee, chaired by Mladen Vedriš, a full professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb and head of the Department of Economic Sciences, along with members Damir Novinić, director of the Agency for Investments and Competitiveness, Tomislav Radoš, vice president of the Croatian Chamber of Economy responsible for industry, IT, energy, and environmental protection, Slavko Krajcar, professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb, Sandra Švaljek, economist and independent representative in the City Assembly of Zagreb, Vedrana Jelušić Kašić, director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Croatia and Slovenia, Zdenko Adrović, director of the Croatian Banking Association, Benjamin Cerovac, director of Bisnode Croatia, and Miodrag Šajatović, editor-in-chief of Lider, will evaluate investments based on revenue per employee, share of domestic materials, assessment of the degree of added value and product finalization, as well as environmental impact – sustainability.

Nominations for LIDER invest will run from April 12 to July 15, 2016, and the selection of the best investments will be conducted in five phases, during which investment forums will be held in Varaždin, Split, Osijek, Rijeka, and Zagreb.
