Creative and Cultural Rise of Zagreb

The project ‘Month of Creative and Cultural Industries’ was presented to the public today at the HUP premises. From May 16 to June 21, 2016, it will unite numerous cultural events in Zagreb – exhibitions, performances, concerts, dance, and screenings.

The main drivers of the event are the Croatian Cluster of Competitiveness and Creative Industries, HUP, the Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb, and  Adria Media Zagreb, along with the main partners, the Representation of the European Commission in Croatia and the City of Zagreb.

– The creative industry is an exceptionally resilient sector of the economy, and due to statistical growth indicators, it does not require additional promotion. However, we are pioneers in this field. We are creating a new cultural and creative image of Zagreb. The goals of this project are to develop tourism potential, create greater visibility and understanding for the sector, and ultimately connect the economy, culture, and  industry. The culture of the city is the brand of the city, and this project should help achieve the ultimate goal of making Zagreb a city of culture and design – stated Vana Nikolić Popović, president of the Croatian Cluster of Competitiveness in Creative and Cultural Industries, the body behind the project ’Month of Creative and Cultural Industries’.

The creative industry is extremely important for the Croatian economy, and HUP, through its numerous analyses, has come to the realization that it not only does not stagnate during the recession but also grows. This is an industry that is necessary for Croatia as it creates added value. This project is extremely important not only for Zagreb but for the entire industry – stated HUP president Davor Majetić, warning about copyright issues and the undefined status of Croatian design.
