Minor Changes to the Smallest Mercedes Sedan

Mercedes has just refreshed its CLA, although it is truly difficult to speak of a refresh when at first glance it is not easy to determine whether it is a new or old model.

Automotive laymen have a problem when it comes to distinguishing between the Mercedes CLA and C-Class models, even though they are objectively quite different vehicles both technically and visually. What connects them is the fact that both vehicles have a classic three-volume shape and the Mercedes emblem. The CLA is based on the A-Class, has front-wheel drive (unlike the C-Class), and the concept is meant to build on another Mercedes model, the CLS, which became a real sales hit about a decade ago. It is a coupe vehicle, but with four doors. The spirit of the coupe can best be felt in the doors that lack a frame.

Only Details

Mercedes has just refreshed its CLA, although it is really very difficult to speak of a refresh when at first glance even an expert finds it hard to determine whether it is a new or conditionally speaking old model. There are only slight corrections to the front grille and minor details. The interior remains almost identical, so one cannot speak of a classic redesign.
The engine offering for the CLA model in Croatia starts with a 1.5-liter diesel version that develops 109 horsepower. This is an economical engine that is in high demand as it offers quite decent performance (11.6 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed of 215 km/h) with an average consumption of just 3.9 l/100 km.

A Bomb on the Road

Above it is the 200d version with its 136 horsepower, and the top of the diesel offering is the 220d model, which now develops as much as 177 horsepower. It can be said that this is a sports model as we are already talking about a top speed of 232 km/h with acceleration of 8.2 seconds to 100 km/h. We can almost omit the gasoline models as they literally sell like drops in Croatia, averaging less than five percent. However, we must not overlook the cherry on the cake, which is the AMG model, which many currently rightly consider the absolute king of its class. The CLA AMG 45 4Matic develops 381 HP, with all-wheel drive as its name suggests. This bomb on the road reaches 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and the top speed is, of course, limited to 250 km/h.

In addition to the CLA model, Mercedes has made slight changes to the CLA Shooting Brake (designer station wagon), which has become a real hit in the markets of Western Europe.
