Šajatović: Old Recipes in Banking No Longer Apply, and New Ones Are Still Being Sought

The Fourth Meeting of Governors of the Region began today in Rovinj. The event gathered governors of central banks from Croatia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Czech Republic, as well as financial experts from across the region.

Old recipes in banking no longer apply, and new ones are still being sought, and this is where the search begins, said Miodrag Šajatović, editor-in-chief of Lider, who is also the organizer of this meeting, at the beginning of the event.

– This is an opportunity to enhance dialogue, to exchange ideas and opinions of the governors of the central banks of the region, emphasized Zdenko Matak, CEO of Erste&Steiermärkische Bank, which is also the sponsor of this year’s meeting.

Dr. Miroslav Singer, governor of the Czech National Bank, presented the financial sector in that country, as well as the role of the Czech National Bank, especially after privatization and the fall of communism.
