Promotion is not accidental as the potential for coincidence is short-lived. However, scenes from real life can effectively advertise a brand. This has been proven by accidental advertisements featuring footballers Ivan Rakitić and Neymar, as well as drug dealer El Chapo.
There are many examples of unintentional promotion that have made a brand, even a local one, globally recognizable. A Croatian example is the Kraš cookie Domaćica, which was enjoyed by Croatian national football player and Barcelona player Ivan Rakitić and his teammate Neymar, who shared it on social media… There are many examples, even at the Croatian level, not to mention the global level.
You could read about this topic yesterday, and now we bring you six cases of life promotion.
1. At this year’s Super Bowl, Peyton Manning, an NFL player, mentioned Budweiser beer twice in an interview. Anheuser-Busch earned more than three million dollars from this accidental promotion, while Manning earned nothing.
2. The Croatian Tourist Board invited the coach of the winning team at last year’s Super Bowl – both of whom were of Croatian descent – to spend a vacation in the homeland of their ancestors. The final was watched by more than one hundred million people. A volleyball from the Wilson brand appeared ‘accidentally’ in the movie ‘Cast Away’ with Tom Hanks. Wilson reportedly did not pay for ‘product placement’ in the film, but after the film’s success, they launched a highly sought-after product.
