Seven largest Croatian cities compete for 345.35 million euros

The Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds has announced a call for the selection of areas for the implementation of the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITU) mechanism, which can be applied for by the seven largest Croatian cities.

The Ministry announced on Wednesday that it has published a call for the selection of areas for the implementation of ITU mechanisms, defined within the operational programs “Competitiveness and Cohesion” and “Efficient Human Resources” 2014-2020.

“This is a limited call, and eligible applicants are the seven largest urban centers in the Republic of Croatia, namely, cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants in central settlements – Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Slavonski Brod, Zadar, and Pula,” the statement said.

No grants are awarded under this call. An applicant who meets the minimum score threshold will receive the status of an ITU area and become eligible to use part of the financial resources from ten specific objectives within the operational programs “Competitiveness and Cohesion” and “Efficient Human Resources” for the implementation of the ITU mechanism, the Ministry explains.

The ITU mechanism is a mechanism for implementing sustainable urban development activities that have a pronounced territorial dimension and enables the provision of financial support for the implementation of integrated activities and the execution of complex urban area development strategies.

The total indicative allocation under the ITU mechanism amounts to 345.35 million euros (253.35 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund, 50 million from the Cohesion Fund, and 42 million euros from the European Social Fund).

The deadline for submitting applications for this public call is July 15, and applications will be processed in the order of receipt.

The Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds reported today that project proposals can be submitted until March 25 for the call for the implementation of public works programs for the activation of women in the local community, for which 60.7 million kuna is allocated.

As stated in the announcement, the Ministry of Labor and Pension System has published a limited call for the submission of project proposals HR.1.1.13 “Implementation of public works programs for the activation of women in the local community” within the Operational Program Human Resources Development 2007-2013 in the amount of 60.7 million kuna.

The general objective of this call is to support access to employment and the labor market for women belonging to vulnerable groups and to reduce unemployment through the implementation of public works programs aimed at providing social services in the local community.

“Since this is a limited call for the submission of project proposals, the eligible applicant is the institution/legal entity responsible for implementing employment policy measures in the Republic of Croatia according to national legislation,” the Ministry states.
