British heir to the throne Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will begin a two-day visit to Croatia in Zagreb on Tuesday afternoon, which does not have a political dimension but will focus on strengthening the ties between the two countries and their citizens.
Prince (67) and the Duchess (68) are in Croatia on Monday and Tuesday as part of a regional tour that will include Serbia, Montenegro, and Kosovo from March 14 to 19. President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović is hosting their visit to Croatia.
– This is an important visit for us. Its aim is to strengthen the relationship between Croatia and Great Britain, but not only politically, but also the relationships among citizens, said Ian Cliff, Chargé d’Affaires at the British Embassy, to reporters.
Their program in Croatia is very rich and diverse, so in addition to Zagreb, they will also visit Osijek, Đakovo, and Kopački rit on Tuesday, and every step they take from landing at Zagreb Airport on Monday at 14:15 until their departure on Wednesday will be followed by around 180 accredited Croatian and British journalists.
68 guests have been invited to a formal dinner with the royal couple at Pantovčak – representatives of the broader social community, including politics, religion, business, arts, and sciences. Among them will not be opposition leader Zoran Milanović, who has apologized due to unavoidable commitments, but actress Zrinka Cvitešić, who has achieved great success in London’s West End, will attend.
On Tuesday, the couple will visit Osijek, Đakovo, and Kopački rit.
