Lower gas prices for households by 15 to 20 percent

This drop in gas prices will have a significant negative impact on HEP’s margins, while INA, as a seller, will continue to sell its goods at prices above market rates even with the new prices.

The Ministry of Economy is preparing to adopt a Decision on the gas price at which the gas producer (INA) sells domestic gas to the supplier on the wholesale market (HEP), as well as a Decision on the gas price at which HEP will sell that gas to suppliers for the needs of customers in the household category.

According to unofficial information from MINGO, the energy portal energetika-net has learned that the price at which INA sells gas to HEP should fall by about twenty percent, and the reason for such a significant price drop is the large decline in wholesale gas prices in Europe, which follow the decline in oil prices with a delay. As a result of the drop in the price at which they procure gas from HEP, suppliers will also have to reduce prices for end customers in the household category. The price drop is expected to be between 15 and 20%, according to MINGO.

With this reduction in gas prices in the universal service, it will be at the level of Hungary, which is almost the lowest in the EU. This drop in gas prices will have a significant negative impact on HEP’s margins, while INA, as a seller, will continue to sell its goods at prices above market rates even with the new prices.
